Ke Kitchen: From Outdated to Outstanding

When our client first approached us, he had been living in his home for a few years but never felt like it reflected his style or worked efficiently for his needs. His vision? A space that embraced rich wood tones and mid-century modern, masculine design. With a stunning art collection already in place, we also knew we could pull color inspiration directly from pieces he loved.

The Kitchen: Blending Function with Style

One of the biggest challenges in the kitchen was updating the outdated and poorly made white cabinetry while improving the space's functionality. Our first stop was Fergusons, for appliance options that would match the client’s culinary skill and meet his overall aesthetic. The Aga Mercury series induction range stood out immediately. With its professional-grade efficiency and old-world charm, it became the foundation for the entire kitchen design.

To maintain a sleek and modern feel, we opted for all panel-ready appliances to keep visual clutter to a minimum. Partnering with local cabinet makers BylerCraft, we designed custom slab-front cabinetry. For the perimeter, we chose Sherwin Williams Homburg Gray, a bold, masculine tone that complements the client’s style. The island, crafted from walnut wood and finished in Minwax Aged Barrel, added warmth and tied seamlessly into the wood accent wall in the adjoining living room.

Durability was key for this busy kitchen, so we chose quartz countertops from Countertops of Memphis. To add subtle contrast, we used two different quartz colors: a clean, solid tone for the main countertops and range hood surround, and a veined variety for the full-height backsplash, adding depth while keeping the lines crisp and modern.

Lighting was another essential piece of the puzzle. We introduced sleek LED pendants and playful fabric shades in a burgundy hue, a nod to the client’s existing art collection and the rich tones in the living room.

The Dry Bar: From Dark to Dazzling

The original dry bar was a dim, uninspired space—not exactly fitting for a client who enjoys unwinding with a well-crafted drink. With no natural light in this pass-through area, brightening the space became a top priority.

Our solution? A mirrored backsplash to reflect and amplify light from the nearby laundry room door. Layered lighting was also essential: under-cabinet lights, recessed lighting, and under-shelf illumination all work together to keep the space well-lit, day or night.

We took a bold approach by color-drenching the entire bar area—from walls to cabinetry—creating a striking contrast with the surrounding rooms while still feeling cohesive. This dramatic transformation not only made the bar more functional but also gave the client a unique, statement-making spot to craft his favorite cocktails.

Designing a House That Feels Like Home

Throughout this project, our goal was to create a home that felt distinctly personal. By combining high-quality materials, custom craftsmanship, and thoughtful design solutions, we transformed this house into a home. From the sleek, functional kitchen to the inviting, dramatically lit bar, every detail was curated to enhance the way he lives and entertains.

This stunning renovation wouldn’t have been possible without our trusted partners, including Ken Garland Custom Homes in Piperton, BylerCraft, Fergusons, and Countertops of Memphis.
