Home Trends for 2023 I Want to See More Of

What’s trending in Design for 2023?

Happiest New Year my friends! Every new year brings the opportunity for new design trends to come forth and make a splash in the market. Last year white oak reigned supreme, but this year I am feeling darker tones making a comeback. Below are just a few of the new trends I am seeing on Instagram and Pinterest that I want to see more of in 2023!

Monochromatic Black

Black has been used for a while as an accent, but in 2023 black goes even bolder and I am here for it! Monochromatic black is a neutral way to make a big statement in your home. Now it’s not quite as easy as just painting everything black and calling it a day; Trinity Interior Design designed this gorgeous bar using black in many varying textures and applications. The natural, handmade look and sheen on the zellige tile backsplash adds reflectivity to this all black look. The gorgeous wood grain of the cabinets paired with the black nickel hardware is just to die for. Just me over here manifesting a project where someone is dying to try out this trend!

Rich, european colors

So long bright white and basic grey! After our trip this past summer to France I simply can’t get enough of rooms like this one from Soho House New York. Deep wood tones, warm rust upholstery, and rich blue walls are stunning paired together creating a feeling of cozy, European luxury. When paired with vintage brass accessories and lighting this is sure to make its way into your hearts this year like it has mine!

Calacatta Viola

I have seen this stone popping up all over the place! Whether it is a stone vanity accent like this image from Aker Interiors or as a full height backsplash going up the wall and making a big impact like the image below from Michelle Gerson Interiors. It is taking the place on my feed where Calacatta Gold once reigned. Don’t get me wrong I still love a beautiful Gold, but this Calacatta Viola is the more dramatic cousin. Do I identify with this marble?Absolutely I do, my cousins will attest. It’s gorgeous, deep purple veining makes me swoon!

Wallpaper

Wallpaper has been a trend for the past few years, much to my mothers chagrin. She is still having 90’s fruit covered wallpaper flashbacks. I can’t say I blame her, but wallpaper has come a LONG way and in 2023 using gorgeous textured wallpaper as an accent is in! I love the image to the left from B. Berry Interiors South of Broad project showing it inset into to gorgeous wood detailing. Shown in the rich European blue hues I mentioned earlier, not to mention monochromatic, ties in all of my hopes and dreams for design in 2023. While fully bold wallpapered powder baths have their place in the new year as well, I am loving this subtle dialed-back approach too.
